| Description: | A pretty Victorian demi parure set in 18ct gold. The parure consists of a brooch and a pair of matching ear pendants set with amethysts and pearls with black enamel vine leaf decoration. Both brooch and ear pendants share a shell motif set with natural pearls. Amethysts, pearls and black enamel were considered suiable for wear by ladies in mourning, either for close family relations or for Prince Albert. Queen Victoria was an obsessive mourner which made such jewellery not only patriotic but also very fashionable in Victorian times. |
