Description:Inspired by Guido Reni's fresco in the Rospigliosi Palace in Rome 'Phoebus and the Hours preceded by Aurora', 1613; this large Victorian cameo depicts Apollo the sun god, ascending the heavens in his chariot surrounded by his daughters, the horae, or seasons. He is preceded by his sister Aurora, goddess of the dawn.
