About Barbara
Barbara has been in the antique jewellery business since 1969, starting out as an enthusiastic collector. Originally she worked as a psychologist in market and communications research but marriage and children put a stop to working twelve hour days. Hence the change in career. Often hobbies determine later careers and this was the case for Barbara. She now has a dedicated team supporting her on-line presence.
Our Pricing Policy
For 33 years we have sold mainly to the trade depending on low overheads, high turnover and low profit margins. With the possibility of on-line trading we decided that we would extend this concession to our virtual clients. We are able to work on low margins due to the volume of business we can generate. This translates into truly good prices for you.
Estimated Retail Prices
As well as our price to you we give an estimated retail price. This roughly equates with the American concept of Appraisal Value or the price you might expect to pay in a high street or mall retail shop if you had to replace this item. They have heavy overheads. This does not mean you might not find similar items for more or less. Buying second hand is always serendipitous and the end price ultimately depends on the dealer's profit policy. However, we know that we buy well and we know that you are getting a good deal on this site. Our advice to you is shop around to get to know prices if you have time. If not HAVE TRUST! We have relied on our good reputation for 33 years and have sold to dealers from all over the world. Also, we want you to come back, as they do. Use your own judgement of the market and prices in your own countries.
